Dear Friend,

It has been a hard winter, especially for the people of Dutchess County who have had to pay a misguided county energy tax since the beginning of March. In an effort to assist the county, my colleagues and I who represent Dutchess County in the State Legislature worked and succeeded to find ways to bring the county additional funding during the budget process.

Now that the State Legislature has secured relief for Dutchess County in the budget, I call on Dutchess County’s government to not only repeal this unfair energy tax, but refund its residents for money already collected as well. The hard working families of Dutchess County deserve to have their money back in their pockets.

The final budget proposal also includes new tax cuts for manufacturers in Dutchess and Putnam counties, increases in education funding,18-a utility tax relief and a multi-billion dollar commitment to property tax relief. My colleagues and I on both sides of the aisle from the Hudson Valley have delivered on making our community a more affordable place to live and do business. I remain committed to working with my local and state officials to make our community a more affordable place to live and do business.

Stay tuned for more updates on the 2014/2015 New York State Budget.

Sincerely,

Terry Gipson
