We object to Ron Ray’s letter, “Dems need a leader: Tyner, not Goldberg” (Dec. 4). Dutchess County Minority Leader Sandy Goldberg is an exemplary public servant, someone who has dedicated years of her life to representing her constituency, with no thought to herself or political expediency.

Sandy has both reached across the aisle and stood her ground in pursuit of good public policy. People will never see eye to eye on all issues; however, she legislates without hidden agendas or personal aspirations. In this divisive, politically ugly period in history, Sandy Goldberg’s integrity is unassailable. She is beyond reproach.

As for the letter’s unfounded assertions, let us set the record straight. Sandy advocates tirelessly for her constituents and works hard for Democratic candidates, writing newsletters, making phone calls and knocking on doors. Legislator Goldberg attends press conferences and contributes frequently to Valley Views, defending Democratic principles and, when necessary, debunking the lies and skewed logic of Republican county officials. She is also one of our party’s most consistent and generous supporters.

Dan Kuffner, too, is imbued with the same sense of honesty and principle, and an overriding concern for the integrity of the process and the people he represents. The fact is, the Democratic Party is exceedingly proud of Legislators Goldberg and Kuffner, and we thank them.
