BEDFORD — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, the attorney general, stopped in Bedford this morning to endorse fellow Democrats Rep. John Hall, state Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer and Westchester Legislator Mike Kaplowitz, who is running for state Senate.
Cuomo, who holds double-digit leads in the polls against his GOP rival, Carl Paladino, said he needs a "state Senate (he) can work with." He also said the region needs to keep Hall in Congress so he can "work with the federal administration to bring back funds to New York."
"We need . . . a representative who has a progressive, inclusive voice for this nation and that is John Hall, not his opponent," Cuomo said inside Bedford Historical Hall.
Hall is seeking a third term and is facing a challenge from Republican Dr. Nan Hayworth, a retired ophthalmologist. Both Cuomo and Hayworth hail from Mount Kisco.
"Working with this administration thus far has brought economic misery to this district," Hayworth countered later.
Kaplowitz is running against Republican Assemblyman Greg Ball, who was endorsed last week by former Gov. George Pataki.
Oppenheimer, who is running for her 14th term, is facing off against Republican Bob Cohen, who was also recognized by Pataki.
