Kaplowitz Unveils His “Make New York Work Plan”
(Carmel, NY) – NY State Attorney General, and Gubernatorial Candidate, Andrew Cuomo announced his support today for Mike Kaplowitz (D, I), candidate for the 40th State Senate District covering parts of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties. Kaplowitz is a local legislator and small business owner who has created and saved taxpayers over $120 million in wasteful spending and taxes.
Cuomo said: “It is with much pleasure that I endorse Mike Kaplowitz, a fiercely independent, fiscally conservative local legislator and small business owner, for State Senate. Mike is just the type of legislator Albany needs; he has the common-sense solutions that will get our economy back on track and his unquestioned integrity will help us break through the gridlock in Albany. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and partnering with Mike. Together, we will help make New York work again.”
Kaplowitz' opponent, Assemblyman Greg Ball, voted for the biggest tax increase in New York history and stands by Carl Paladino “110%” knowing Paladino will immediately slash Medicaid by $20 billion. Such a cut would cost the Hudson Valley about 25,000 jobs and $3 billion in lost economic activity. Additionally, Putnam County could likely lose its only hospital, and Westchester County Medical Center and Vassar Brothers Hospital – two large regional employers – would be forced into large layoffs.
Kaplowitz said, “It is an honor to have the endorsement of our next Governor, Andrew Cuomo. He has the ideas –and the resolve– that we need to provide actual relief to taxpayers and ensure that all New Yorkers, men and women alike, are protected and entitled to equal privileges and equal pay by law in our great State. On the other hand, my opponent is supporting a gubernatorial candidate whose election will cost the Hudson Valley thousands of jobs and billions in lost economic activity. ”
Today, Mike also released his Make New York Plan – a detailed set of policy proposals and priorities that will serve to restore confidence in State government and improve its ability to impact the lives of New Yorkers. His plan outlines his ideas to deliver meaningful property tax relief, spur economic growth, create jobs, clean up Albany, protect the environment and enhance women’s rights.
“Over the course of this campaign, I have met thousands of voters and they all want to see the same thing: a government in Albany that works. They want to live, work and raise a family in a community that is affordable. They want promising job opportunities and quality education. My Make New York Work Plan is a comprehensive set of solutions that will finally get our state back on track. New York’s best days lie ahead. and with the right combination of ideas, independence and integrity, I am confident that we will see those days soon," said Kaplowitz.
