Last night, the Dutchess County Democratic Committee unanimously nominated Marco Caviglia of Lagrange for one of two open Dutchess County Court Judge positions. Caviglia was nominated by Gary Levine, a lawyer from the Town of Poughkeepsie, and seconded by Krista Gobins, President of the Dutchess County Young Democrats.

“As residents of Dutchess County we deserve the best. We deserve the most qualified individuals who have proved they are capable of being decisive, thorough and fair. If you ever have to be on either side in a Court room in front of Mr. Caviglia I can assure you – you will be grateful for not only his experience as a prosecutor and a defender, but as a lawyer and factory worker as well,” said Krista Gobins.

“Marco’s experience makes him a wonderful candidate for County Court Judge, and I’m proud that we are able to put another qualified candidate forward for the public,” said Elisa Sumner, chairwoman of the Dutchess County Democratic Committee.

Caviglia is an experienced lawyer and former Assistant District Attorney; he has been arguing cases in the Dutchess County Court for over 30 years. He is a lifelong resident of Dutchess County, who grew up working in factories like IBM and Western Publishing, before attending law school in Albany. He now runs his own defense practice.

The election for County Court Judge will be held on November 2nd.
